Planet Terror

Terror Planet

Planet Terror is the first part of the Tarantino/Rodriguez film "Grindhouse", and this part of the movie was written and directed by Robert Rodriguez. You know, I was going to do my usual-start out with what the movie is about and then give my opinion, but I think I'm just going to give my opinion on this one. First off, I just have to let it be known that I am sick and tired of zombie movies. Somehow, they have become the only monster now-a-days. And sorry folks, but Planet Terror is about just that.

But here is a twist for you...I actually enjoyed it!! There a some major actors in this film with Rose Mcgowan, Bruce Willis, Michael Biehn (from the Terminator), Freddy Rodriguez, Josh Brolin, Quentin Tarantino himself.

And for a special treat, we got to see the "Glamorous" Fergie (aka Stacy Ferguson, aka "Fergie" from the Black Eyed Peas). And I must say, she did an all right job!

The plot, as I said before, is about zombies. HOW they became zombies is rather interesting. It's from a bio-weapon, which is a green gas, that spreads into the air-so it is airborne. And when Lt. Muldoon (Bruce Willis), takes off his gas mask his face starts bubbling...gross! Turns out that he and his men needed the gas in order to stay "normal" and not become one of those things. When it breaks out, we are then taken to the hospital where a man had been bitten for at least half an hour and the wound was so bad that gangrene had

already set in and they were going to amputate...hmm, weird! Then, within half an hour after bringing three "dead" people into the hospital, all chaos breaks out after the "dead" ones come alive and they start feeding.

There is a lot of gore in this movie...A LOT! The twist on the zombies is actually pretty creative, something I never would have thought of. When they shoot them, it's as if a huge bubble is burst and all this goo explodes out of them. For all you gore lovers,
planet terror
going to kick some arse!
this is perfect for you! The fact that I am one myself I guess helps, he he. There are a few memorable moments for me and they are...one, when the guy with the bite on his arm is asked to stick out his tounge, it is full of abscesses. Two, when Cherry (Rose McGowan) gets her leg taken off, she is given a table leg for a leg at first, and to see her try to walk was hilarious! And three, being out of that gas and turning into a zombie, Quentin whipped out his winkie and it was just oozing off of him...CLASSIC!!

This movie really did pay homage to all the cult horror classics! From the quotes, lame jokes, 70's feel, and of course the gore, I really did enjoy this movie! I'm glad that I got to see both movies that made "Grindhouse", but if I was asked to choose which one was better, I'd have to say Planet Terror...hands down!!

Check out how zombie films may effect us in real life in Attack of the Zombies!!

The Lake House

April 27th 2008 07:18

The Lake House is a story about a man and a woman who are so much in love, but will never seem to be together. As Kate (Sandra Bullock) moves out of her lake house, she leaves a note in the mailbox, and then with her dog Jack, she gets in the car and leaves. Later, Alex (Keanu Reeves)
drives up to the lake house, checks his mail, and reads the note that Kate has left. She asks if the new owner could forward her mail, mentions something about a box in the attic and apologizes for the "paw prints". This has Alex puzzled because there isn't a box in the attic, there aren't any dog prints, and her home hasn't been built yet...and this is what starts not only their letter writing, but their love for one another.

The problem that they face is that by the fifth letter, it is discovered that they are not in the same time frame. Kate is actually 2 years ahead of Alex! Through their writing though, not only do they get to know one another, they help each other out with things that happen in their life--he finds a book she lost; she warns him of a very cold and snowy winter
--but most importantly, they fall in love. As the year goes by we find out that they had in fact met at one point in time, a time that Kate had actually not paid too much attention to because she and Alex kiss...but 2 years later doesn't even realize who it was until an ex boyfriend helped jog her memory. But the point of "do they actually get together?", well, you are just gonna have to watch it and find out if you don't already know the answer.

******

I was truly amazed at how good this movie was! I am still left baffled at how they saw the mailbox flag go up and down! But you know, that's the beauty of film...they keep you guessing. I'm not one that likes to figure out movies before it happens. You know, how some already know who the killer is 10 minutes into the movie. Not me!! I like to watch and enjoy the surprise. Well this movie does it for me. The whole time I was hoping and praying
and crying that they would eventually get together, and at one time it really had me on edge!! The over all feel of the movie is rather depressing though, I think that's about all I don't like about it. But it does have some pretty funny moments, and of course sad ones too! But all in all, to me, it's definitely worth watching.

The Pursuit of Happyness

April 20th 2008 20:08

This film is based on a true story and is about a man, Chris Gardner (Will Smith) who has big dreams but goes through an awful lot to take care of his family. It takes place in 1981 (which explains Smith's hair), and it starts with him on a bus carrying this weird looking contraption. He explains what it is, a bone-density scanner which is something that Doctors would use, and how he spent his life savings on a boat load of them to sell them...except not many doctors really want them.
So he and his wife, Linda (Thandie Newton), are now in debt to where she has been working double shifts for 4 months and neither are making enough to pay any of the bills.

Death Proof

death proof

Death Proof is the second part of the Tarantino/Rodriguez film "Grindhouse", and this part of the film was written and directed by Quentin Tarantino. It starts out with 3 girls cruising along in a car talking about various things including going up to one of the girl's father's cabin at the lake. Before they leave for the lake, they make various stops at bars and meet up with friends. One of the girls, known as Butterfly (Vanessa Ferlito), notices how everywhere they go, there is a mysterious car that follows them. At their last bar stop, Butterfly goes outside for a smoke and when the outside lights turn on, she sees that same car. After a lot of talking, and a lap dance, they befriend the mysterious car driver, Stunt Man Mike (Kurt Russell), and they part ways. He agrees to take home this girl Pam (Rose McGowan), and the other girls go to the lake house.

In a sudden twist he not only explains to Pam why his car is death proof, but shows her as well and kills her. Then he goes up the road that the other girls are traveling on, passes them, stops, turns around, speeds up to over 100 mph, and then has a head on collision with the other girls...killing them instantly.

Transformers 2

transformers 2

It has been announced that there will be a sequel to the box office smash, Transformers. It's still in it's "newbie" stage so there aren't too many details other than it's set release date is June, 2009 and that they will begin shooting the film soon, if they haven't already. Because of how much information leaked out about the first Transformers movie, Michael Bay, Dreamworks, and their teams plan on leaking false information and "treatments" so that NO ONE knows what is going on, LoL...pretty smart I say. The poster image above was actually done by a fan...sadly, there really aren't any pictures or posters (or information period) available. I do understand though that Michael Bay is continually updating a blog he's doing about the upcoming film.
